Where is the Love?

from phone aug12 191

Love is misconstrued, misunderstood, and missed completely…. though beautifully spelled out in 1 Corinthians 13.

Love is patient: able to wait without becoming annoyed or anxious {To Wait Well}

Love is kind: friendly, generous, and considerate {The Warm Fuzzies}

Love is not jealousFeeling or showing envy of someone or their achievements and advantages. {A Green-Eyed Monster}

Love is not boastful: Showing excessive pride and self-satisfaction in one’s achievements, possessions, or abilities. {A Show Off}

Love is not proud a high or inordinate opinion of one’s own dignity, importance, merit, or superiority, whether as cherished in the mind or as displayed in bearing, conduct, etc. Feeling pleasurable satisfaction over an act, possession, quality, or relationship by which one measures one’s stature or self-worth

Love is not rude: Offensively impolite or ill-mannered.

Love does not demand its own way: Ask authoritatively or brusquely (in a blunt direct manner) for its way to be done.

Love is not irritable: Having or showing a tendency to be easily annoyed or made angry.

Love keeps no record of wrong: Forgets what was done against us

Love does not rejoice at injusticeFeel or show great joy or delight at a lack of fairness or an unjust act or occurrence.

Love rejoices when the truth wins out: Feel or show great joy or delight when the quality or state of being true

Love never gives up or loses faith: a verbal act of admitting defeat; yielding, surrender; relinquishing OR be deprived of or cease to have or retain complete trust or confidence in someone or something.

Love is always hopeful and endures through every circumstance: optimistic about the future and suffers (something painful or difficult) patiently/ tolerates (someone or something) through every event or fact that causes or helps to cause something to happen, typically something undesirable. {In it for the long haul, good or bad, hoping for the best}

Love will last forever: continue for all future time; for always.

Love is the greatest: Of an extent, amount, or intensity considerably above the normal or average. Excellently; very well.

All broken down to mean, to me:

GOD is able to wait without becoming annoyed or anxious.

GOD is friendly, generous, and considerate.

GOD is not envious of our achievements or advantages.

GOD is not excessively proud or self-satisfied in HIS achievements, possessions, and abilities. (Though HE has every right to be)

GOD is not pleasurably satisfied over an act, possession, quality, or relationship (proud)

GOD is not offensively impolite or ill-mannered.

GOD does not ask authoritatively or in a blunt, direct, manner for HIS will to be done.

GOD is not easily annoyed or made angry.

GOD does not feel joy at lack of fairness or unjust acts.

GOD shows great joy when the truth wins out.

GOD never admits defeat, yields, surrenders, or relinquishes and always retains complete trust in us and HIS will for us.

GOD is always optimistic about the future, suffers patiently, and tolerated through every even or fact that causes or helps to cause something to happen.

GOD will continue for all future time, for always.

GOD is considerably above the normal or average.

Oh how the world would change if we all decided to be more like GOD. Nothing is impossible with GOD and we can all strive to be better daily.

“Love looks not with the eyes, but with the mind.”- William Shakespeare, A Midsummer Night’s Dream
